Cleaning gutters: basic methods, features and rules

Gutter systems are an important component of roof and facade equipment. They drain water that forms from precipitation or melting snow and ice. However, the system can also become clogged with fallen leaves, dust, and dirt deposits. Clean Gutter Protection is used to avoid blockages.

Cleaning methods

There are several options for maintaining the capacity of gutters, from the simplest to complex ones using special equipment:

  1. The manual option requires a scoop, scrapers, and a ladder. Sometimes you will need cleaning agents to remove certain deposits. That is, you can use a purely mechanical method, or add chemical action to it. This is the most versatile and affordable option.
  2. Using a blower with nozzles to penetrate pipes or gutters. This method allows you to remove fallen leaves and branches, remove fluff or dry sand particles. It is difficult to work with moss or mud deposits.
  3. Washing with a high-pressure washer. In this case, in addition to mechanical action, a chemical method will be used, when special means can remove even mold, not to mention moss or dirt deposits.

It is recommended to combine methods taking into account the existing contamination of the drainage system.

Rules
