Concreting of stairs: technology, requirements and rules

Concreting stairs is an important stage in the construction of residential and commercial buildings. Where to start the process?

It is important that the formwork is stable and sealed, preventing the mixture from leaking. For commercial concrete, which is used in the construction of large facilities, special attention is required to the quality of the formwork and compliance with the proportions of the mixture, since such a staircase will be subject to significant loads.

The next stage is reinforcement. Reinforcement plays an important role in ensuring the strength and stability of the concrete staircase. The rods are installed along the steps and risers, fixed with knitting wire and placed on special supports to be completely inside the concrete layer. Proper reinforcement prevents cracks and ensures the durability of the structure even under high intensity of use.

Pouring concrete

After installing the formwork and reinforcement, concrete is poured. Commercial concrete is highly durable and mobile. This allows you to:

  • fill all corners;
  • ensure the monolithic nature of the stairs.

Pouring should be done continuously, avoiding cold joints and voids. For high-quality compaction of the mixture, vibrators are used, which remove air bubbles and ensure uniform distribution of the concrete mass.

The next important step is concrete care after pouring. Freshly poured stairs are covered with film and regularly moistened to prevent drying out and cracking. This process is especially important for commercial concrete, as it is intended for use under high loads and must gain maximum strength. Typically, concrete reaches full strength after 28 days, after which the formwork can be removed and further finishing can begin.
